Total Wine & More is one of the largest liquor retailers in the US, with over 250 stores in more than 25 states. They are now stocked in Minnesota and Colorado and hope to expand more soon. 💡 On driving philosophies: We have one we call “happy driver, happy rider.” So we try to figure out how to provide a ride above the rest: the HOVR hospitality. It starts with paying the people behind the wheel properly so they’re incentivized to go above and beyond. It’s been observed in our rides there’s a ton of gratitude between drivers and riders. Drivers are thankful to riders for choosing a Canadian option and riders are thankful to HOVR that these drivers are being paid properly.

🤝 On the early days: Before we even launched, we spent a lot of time building equity with our driver group, and the advocacy groups, and understanding what their pain points were. That time spent was incredibly well-served because it resulted in us being able to build up our first initial waitlist of around 5,000 drivers which was incredible. We predicted maybe half of them would convert with the soft launch but what happened was beyond the whole team’s expectations. In the first 48 hours, we had an additional 8,000 drivers who signed up and downloaded the app.

🚀 On opening a funding round: When we jumped into our seed round, we had a flood of requests from drivers to invest early. Unfortunately, a lot of our drivers were not accredited investors so it was challenging to turn them away. Then it dawned on us to launch on FrontFundr and run an equity crowdfunding campaign so we can get the drivers in on the ground floor. We want them to understand that as we grow and they work hard, we want them to be a part of this opportunity.
